   Siding has been the family business since the late 1950's when Earl N. Smith started as an installer.   In the early 1960's he began to teach his two sons, Stephen and Rick, about installing and they worked with their father every summer.

   In 1972 Earl came to Champaign-Urbana and he started his own company, Smith and Sons Construction.  The family business had been launched.  In 1975 Earl retired and his sons then changed the name to Smith Bros. Siding Company.  By 1978 Rick had left the business to pursue a different career path.

   Today, Smith Bros. continues as the family business with Stephen Smith as sole owner and his son Rich installing as did his father and grandfather.  They have expanded over the years and now include light commercial work such as large projects, apartments and office buildings.  They also are involved in the preservation of turn of the century homes.

   Thirty years ago it started as "just a job". Today its a well established business paying personal attention to detail and design.
